Hi, I’m
Marilyn Monrow! Thank you for visiting my website. I’d like
to tell you a bit about myself. I’m only 5 years old, but
I have a great story to tell. I was born into a puppy mill where
I was so small that the owners looked at me and said “gold
mine!” You see, tiny teacup dogs are, unfortunately, all
the rage now. So, when the bad breeders get a hold of the really
small dogs, like me, they keep them and breed them again and again
and again, hoping to make more small dogs. So, when I turned 6
months old, they started to breed me. The problem was, because
of my size I couldn’t carry the pups to term, and they always
died in my tummy. A nice vet said that was probably good because
I would have died giving birth. I’m only 3 pounds for goodness
sake! |

| One day the
bad breeder decided to cut my vocal cords with scissors, because
I kept asking for attention. I didn’t make any noise after
that. I was always such a good girl; I couldn’t understand
why I deserved to have that done to me. Then my teeth started
rotting because the food they occasionally threw into my cage
for me was bad. I was never taken to the vet, so my mouth hurt
very badly. I tried to bark for someone to help, but no noise
came out! The metal cage I lived in was so dirty, I kept getting
sick from that, too. |
|
One day the bad man
came to my cage and said, “You’re worthless, time
for you to leave here.” I thought, “Wow, great! A
new home where I might find love! Anything’s better than
this!” He put me and a bunch of other dogs in a bag. It
was so dark and scary. I guess he was going to do something bad
to us, but a nice lady from a rescue group came and said she would
take us all. Even though the man was going to do something bad
to us, he made her pay him money to take us. He only cared about
himself. But, after that day, my life changed forever……… |

I was adopted by Mommy.
She took another little girl who had come from a puppy mill, too.
That’s my sister now, Jackie-O. We are so happy in our new
home. When Mommy took us, she made sure we couldn’t have
puppies. Then, we had surgery on our mouths. I felt so good after
that! Finally, no pain! Even though I don’t have teeth,
I still eat whatever I want! My mommy has to feed me from a paper
towel. I’m very, very scared of bowls because of something
that happened to me before. I even went for training to be a therapy
dog and sit with sick people. Everyone thinks I’m so cute
and cuddly. They always ask about where I came from, which makes
me the PERFECT spokes-pup against puppy mills! I just had another
surgery and I’ll need more next year, but I know my mommy
will take good care of me. She thinks I’m pretty special!

| Oh, one more thing,
PLEASE don’t ever buy dogs or puppies at a pet store or
on the internet, they frequently come from bad places called “Puppy
Mills”. When you buy these dogs, they breed the mommies
again and again for more puppies. These puppies are not healthy…
take me for example! I’ve already cost Mommy thousands of
dollars! What you can do is go to the shelter or a rescue where
you can literally save a life by adopting from them! Or, do your
research and ask your vet to help you find a reputable breeder,
where dogs are well cared for, healthy, properly socialized, and
raised in the home as the family pets they are meant to be. Please
take a look around my site to find out more about puppy mills
and what other things you can do to help me. Don’t forget…
they cut my vocal cords so I couldn’t make any sound… will YOU be my voice? |
